New Moon in Scorpio

On Sunday, Oct. 27, at exactly 11:38 p.m. ET, a bewitching new moon in Scorpio will banish into the velvet night, renewing our inner world while summoning the shadowy parts of our being. The new moon phase marks the beginning of a lunar cycle. This is when the moon sits between the earth and sun, and the sun casts its ever-burning rays on the dark side of the moon; hence the moon becomes invisible, as seen from earth. *If you dabble in the occult or partake in ritual moon magick, then you’re probably familiar with the mystical potency stemming from this wicked lunar phase.* This occurs when both of the sun and the moon meet at the exact same degree of a zodiac sign, which, in turn, serves as a cosmic channel; a more energetically-concentrated version of the zodiac archetype. You can conjure anything by the dark of the moon.

This mysterious moon phase is infused with mystical fertility, given the paranormal multiverse that forever roams through the dead of night. Hexed by the Lord of the Underworld, himself, this year’s new moon in Scorpio is brewing with enchanting powers of manifestation, and lunarly charm. All in all, it doesn’t get more Plutonian than this; although, despite its enticing overwhelming Scorpionic lure, this ceremonial lunation will be swirling with electricity. Perhaps a bit too shocking, revolutionary Uranus — planet of rebellion, chaos and unexpected change, will directly oppose both the sun and the moon, while in the mystifying sign of Scorpio. Expect the unexpected. You never know what you’re going to get with non-committal Uranus, let alone the most perplexing sign in the zodiac.

Scorpio’s energy is incredibly polarizing; its enigmatic essence is a symbol of death, both literally and figuratively, transformation, and intense rebirth. Uranus, on the other hand, is the planet of liberation, innovation and intense freedom; it governs all things scientific, and futuristic. On another note, this Pluto-ruled lunation will be sitting at exactly four degrees Scorpio, while directly opposing mind-boggling Uranus, the cosmic rebel, at four degrees Taurus. Needless to say, there is absolutely nothing subtle about October’s new moon, considering its most prominent aspect (opposition) is being triggered by disruptive Uranus... and at the very same degree! Moreover, hot-headed Mars — Scorpio’s traditional planetary ruler; planet of assertion, energy, and desire — will be challenged by serious Saturn, but there’s more.

In just-seeking Libra, go-getter Mars struggles to make decisions, which ultimately gives Saturn — planet of structures, hierarchies, foundations, institutions, and limitations — the upperhand. Meanwhile, Saturn will sit five degrees away from powerful Pluto in Capricorn which, in turn, puts Mars between a rock, and a hard place. In the end, this supercharged-lunation could bring both an unexpected, and life-changing, new beginning. One thing’s for sure: Your levels of assertion will be hella challenged but in true Plu- tonian nature, whatever’s in the midst of being destroyed will pave the way for something much greater.
